Soup Bowl Weekend

Owner, Thea Hall, first experienced the horrors of Colon Cancer when her Father Fought his colon Cancer Diagnosis in the Early 2000s. Short Years later, Thea’s Cousin-in-Law was Taken from her cousin’s family too quickly due to Colon Cancer.

Every March, the United States acknowledges a fraction of the hardships caused by Colorectal Cancers. To pay tribute to many sufferers, we started a Soup Bowl benefit four years ago. Soup is oftentimes one of the only things sufferers can endure eating during treatment. Thea’s cousin, Carmen, started TrickleSpring Creek pottery when she lost her husband, and the proceeds have been continuously donated to the Colorectal Cancer Alliance. We hoped to offer an event where attendees could try local soups and leave with not only an artisan hand-crafted bowl but also a lasting impact benefiting Colorectal Cancer Alliance.

This year, 2024, we invite you to do just this! We have two amazing days filled with famous local restaurants. You can dine and vote for the best! Choose from two dining options as well. You may choose a more intimate affair in the tasting room, where you can sip wine and spoon soup with friends at a table. Or perhaps, an upbeat party in the big barn with live music is more your speed. In that case, vote with your dollar! You can try all the soups, but the best soup is chosen based on the highest donations. We encourage you to start the debate now … it is in the name of cancer research and support after all!

Our Saturday contestants include The Chesapeake Inn Restaurant & Marina, Chef Brandon known for his cheffing at Prime 225 and The Bayard House Restaurant, Schaeffer’s Canal House, and an Anonymous Chef.

On Sunday, we will have chefs from Deep Blue at Kitty Knight, Twinny’s, Molly’s Restaurant, and Happy Chicken Catering competing for Best Soup.

Remember, if you join us in the tasting room, you will need a ticket as soon as you can get one. These tickets include seated soup, a vote, ceramic bowl made by Thea’s Cousin Carmen, and will gain you entrance to Big Barn as well

For anyone looking to join us in the big barn, here’s what you should know: Saturday we will have Live Music by Exit 93, our food truck will be Blue Monkey Street Taco, and Entrance by Donation to Colorectal Cancer Alliance - no ticket purchase ahead of time. Sunday we will have Live Music by Acoustically Sound, Bristow Live Fire Brick Oven Pizza, and entrance by donation to CCA again. The Barn will be open 1-4 pm both days.
